Head of Junior School Welcome
Welcome to Stalyhill Junior School
I feel very fortunate to be the Head of School at Stalyhill and to work alongside such a committed team, supportive families and, most importantly, our wonderful children. Our school is a busy, welcoming and caring place, and we are incredibly proud of the community we have created together.
At Stalyhill, we recognise that children are constantly growing, developing and discovering more about themselves and the world around them. We want to give every child the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to develop their confidence and independence, while building the knowledge, skills and resilience that will help them as they move forward in their education and beyond.
We want children at Stalyhill to be enthusiastic learners who are not afraid to ask questions, have a go, make mistakes and try again. We encourage them to challenge themselves, celebrate their successes and learn from the things that don't go to plan. Alongside their academic development, we want our children to become considerate, confident and responsible members of our school community.
Our PRIDE values (Positivity, Respect, Independence, Determination and Empathy) are an important part of this. They help us to think about how we approach challenges, how we treat others and the kind of people we want our children to become. We see these values in action every day, both in the classroom and across the wider life of our school.
There is a great deal for children to discover at Stalyhill. From the curriculum we provide to trips, visitors, sporting opportunities, performances and experiences beyond the classroom, we want school life to be about more than simply acquiring knowledge. We want our children to develop interests, find things they are good at and, most importantly, enjoy being at school.
We also recognise that children do not all learn, develop or experience school in the same way. Getting to know our children well enables us to celebrate their individuality, understand what they need and help them to overcome the barriers they may face. We want every child to know that they have a place here and that they are capable of achieving great things.
Ultimately, we want children to leave Stalyhill Junior School with more than a collection of academic achievements. We want them to leave with confidence, curiosity, independence and a strong sense of who they are – and with plenty of happy memories of their time with us.
I hope that our website gives you a flavour of life at Stalyhill Junior School and the people who make it such a special place.
