SEND & Inclusion

Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)

At Stalyhill Infant School we strive to support all children to enable them to achieve at school. We ensure that all pupils are included in all aspects of learning and school life. In order to do this many steps are taken to support them through their learning journey. Quality first teaching is vital; however for some children there are occasions when additional support may be needed to help them achieve.

We follow a graduated approach to our SEND provision. We follow the sequence of -Assess, Plan, Do, Review. This way we can constantly make sure that the school is meeting each child's needs. Parents and pupils will be kept informed and be an integral part of the process.

Please see the documents below for more information about SEND provision at Stalyhill Infant School or please contact Mr Martin Fuller (SENDCO) on 01457 763598 or via the School Office.

Offering support to families who have children with special needs/disabilities.

Tameside Educational Psychology Service

We are supported in school by the EP service. The service supports us through the process of assess, plan, do and review. They also work on different levels, including supporting with individual children and young people (casework), with vulnerable groups, such as supporting Cared for Children, and by providing projects, training, workshops and strategic work. The EP's who support us in school are Leanne Jackson-Taft and Freya Maries-Collier. Please follow this link for more information about the service or speak to Mrs Plant.

The Local Offer – which can be accessed on the Tameside Council website at https://tamesidelocaloffer.co.uk - should be the first port of call for anyone who has concerns about their child’s development.

It is aimed at all families who feel their children may need some extra help because of additional needs – these could be emotional, physical, behavioural and/or medical and anything from difficulties learning to read to a profound disability.

The Local Offer webpage signposts to all the services and support available for children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities. It informs families what they are entitled to while also helping them to make informed decisions. As well as linking to individual school and private and voluntary nursery offers, the Local Offer covers other services and support such as voluntary organisations and local activities and also SENDIASS (Together Trust Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service - please see leaflet above for contact details).

Parents and carers are encouraged to seek advice as soon as they identify any concerns so that children can receive all the support they may need from the earliest opportunity.
